Upsize and downsize
Since we have such a variety of sizes here at Storage Station, any thing from a 5 x 5 to a 10 x 30 everyone generally has an option to either upsize or downsize, and they most certainly do. I say generally because sometimes when they inquire about a possible switch I may have the unit they are looking for at the time and sometimes not.
The great thing is we get to know our tenants, and let’s give a high five for the inventor of the post it! With those yellow squares hanging about it is easy to remember that Mr. Building A wants something on the sunny side, or Ms. Building C really needs something larger since her husband seems to becoming a collector of stuff. Now it can get a little tricky, and here is why. Since I only have 4 buildings here at the Middletown Storage Station it’s not too bad, seriously though who wants to move a room full of stuff that may include furniture from one side of the facility to the other? Not I or any of my tenants, so that is where the post it’s come in super handy, a little note as a reminder that if at all possible keep aside a close one and notify the tenant when one is going to be vacated so this way the move is a s easy as possible.
I recently had a tenant want to downsize, she didn’t think she needed so much space. She actually wanted to go 2 sizes down, and after numerous phone calls back and forth, and the tenant having come in to look at the sizes, she decided that she had no idea what she might need, so she called a good friend who is awesome at organizing and storing and after we all walked from one unit to the next and back to the original , she is currently in a 10 x 10 unit and wanted to go into a 5 x 10 possibly and try and save on her monthly bill as well, now we have our organizer walk and look and decide in no uncertain terms that a 5x10 will definitely not work, maybe a 5 x 15 …
Now he put it the absolute best, “why bother?” he asked her, not a huge price difference between a 10 x 10 and a 5 x 15 and all the work it will take to move everything from one to the other. So she agrees and decides to do more antiquing since she has the space to store and eventually re sell all he awesome finds. Now this actually took over a week of phone calls and trying to meet up at the same time, so we had a laugh! One tenant just as funny, was a previous tenant, he had rented a 5 x 10 so came in and rented again the same size, so we do all the paperwork and walk over so I can unlock and he can put his lock on, well he stood completely still for a minute or so and looked at me and said….. hmmmmmm definitely not going to work, can I see the next size up? Off we go to see the 5 x 15, yup we upsized!!!
